Tarou Don

What is Tarou Don? Tucked into the food court stalls at 4675 Steeles Avenue East in Scarborough, Tarou Don is an unapologetic, quick-service counter specializing in heavyweight Japanese comfort staples. The setup is purely functional, built to service delivery drivers and grab-and-go customers rather than diners seeking ambiance or dedicated dining room seating. It delivers classic fast-casual efficiency, dishing out steaming bowls of donburi and udon with brisk turnaround times.

Tarou Don Menu & What to Order The kitchen zeroes in on rich, saucy rice bowls and comforting noodle broths anchored by savory soy and dashi bases. The Creamy Masago Beef Udon is the clear standout, featuring chewy, thick noodles slicked in a luscious emulsion and crowned with tender beef and popping capelin roe. Purists should lean toward the simmering sweet-savory onions of the classic Gyu Don or the Gyutori, while a side of crisp Chicken Karaage rounds out the order.
