What is Tacontento? Tacontento is a traditional Mexican restaurant located at 2603 Eglinton Avenue West, near Caledonia Road in Toronto's York community. Having built a passionate citywide following at its original Downsview market stall before expanding into this permanent brick-and-mortar storefront, it provides scratch-cooked Mexican home-style cooking and classic street food in an unpretentious neighborhood dining room.

Tacontento Menu & What to Order The extensive menu covers traditional street antojitos and rich regional soups. The Al Pastor Tacos—marinated pork carved fresh and paired with grilled pineapple—and slow-cooked Suadero beef brisket are essential orders. On weekends, bowls of steaming red Pozole with tender pork shoulder, hominy, radishes, and shredded cabbage draw crowds from across the GTA. Other standouts include cheesy birria quesadillas with seasoned broth, hearty tortas stuffed with Mexican chorizo, and crispy chilaquiles verdes topped with fried eggs and crema.

Know Before You Go Closed Mondays. Open Tuesday through Thursday from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Friday from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM, Saturday from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
