What is Taberna Social? Located at 40 Wellington Street East along the historic Old Town corridor, Taberna Social brings a vibrant Spanish tapas and wine bar format to the doorstep of St. Lawrence. Conceived by restaurateur Dave Sidhu—the operator behind the Playa Cabana group—the space pairs low-lit amber glow with rustic wood accents, banquettes, and a lively bar built for social dining.

Taberna Social Menu & What to Order The kitchen turns out traditional Iberian small plates alongside shareable staples that cater well to both meat lovers and vegetarians. Start with the skewered Cantabrian Anchovy Gilda and crisp Croquetas de Jamón before diving into the Barcelona Bomba, a panko-crusted braised beef croquette layered with piquant bravas sauce. The Huevos Rotos topped with rich morcilla and the plancha-seared mushrooms with Manchego are standout crowd favourites, ideally paired with a glass of Tempranillo or Spanish vermouth on tap.

Know Before You Go Tables fill up quickly during peak dinner hours from Thursday through Saturday, so advance reservations are recommended for groups, while solo diners and pairs can usually find room at the bar. The dining room sits a quick three-minute stroll from King subway station, with public Green P parking lots situated nearby on Church Street. Service runs continuously from 11:00 a.m. daily, with late-night service extending until 2:00 a.m. toward the end of the week.
