What is Sushi Kiwami? Tucked into the base of The Gloucester on Yonge at 599 Yonge Street, Sushi Kiwami brings an ultra-refined Edomae omakase counter to the Church-Wellesley corridor. Executive Chef Yuta Arase leads the kitchen in a serene, 1,500-square-foot space finished with pale Hinoki wood, diatom mud plaster walls, and a traditional wooden himuro icebox. Diners take front-row seats across an intimate nine-seat main chef's counter or a seven-seat private counter room for a focused yet warm, conversational meal.

Sushi Kiwami Menu & What to Order The multi-course tasting menu relies on pristine catches flown in directly from auctions in Japan's Shimane Prefecture paired with seasonal Canadian ingredients. Courses open with warm, velvety chawanmushi and delicate seasonal otsumami before moving into precision-cut nigiri—such as aged shima aji, scored ika with rich sea urchin, and melt-in-your-mouth Ehime otoro. The experience rounds out with a loaded seasonal kaisendon and the viral Japanese crown melon cake, assembled with fresh fruit, cream, and sponge cake directly inside a carved melon rind. Given the omakase format, the kitchen cannot modify courses for vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, or seafood allergies.
