What is Squirly's? Anchoring Queen Street West near Manning Avenue since 1988, Squirly's is a laid-back neighbourhood fixture brought into a new era by longtime bartender Britt Kirby and partner Patrick Grant. The narrow room embraces its counterculture roots with warm, low-slung lighting, eclectic wall art, classic front bar stools, and an iconic covered back patio furnished with vintage sofas.

Squirly's Menu & What to Order The kitchen rolls out straightforward comfort fare alongside plenty of vegetarian-friendly choices that go beyond standard tavern standards. Order the double-patty Squirly's Smash Burger or the house-made Black Bean & Mushroom Burger, both served on brioche with a heap of fresh-cut fries. Regulars also swear by the slow-cooked Madras Chicken Curry stewed with chickpeas and served with jasmine rice and pita, the baked Jalapeño Artichoke Dip, and a cold Ontario craft pint.

Know Before You Go Seating operates on a first-come, first-served walk-in basis for casual drinks and dinners, though group inquiries can be arranged directly through the bar. The back patio fills quickly on warm evenings and sunny weekends, so head over before prime rush if you want a couch. Street parking is limited along this stretch of Queen West, making the 501 Queen streetcar the most practical way to travel.
