What is Spano's? Located at 1 Hafis Road in the industrial corridor of the Castlefield Design District, Spano's Diner brings more than four decades of Dollard-des-Ormeaux Montreal comfort food legacy to Toronto. Owner Chris Dessilas, who started out at the Montreal original in the 1980s, has preserved his father's foundational dough and sauce recipes across a retro-leaning room defined by red-and-white booth seating, checkerboard tile floors, and bright diner lighting. The environment is unapologetically casual and unpretentious, built for hearty group feeds and solo deli lunches alike.

Spano's Menu & What to Order Stone-oven pizzas built on thick, scratch-made crusts anchor the menu, led by the classic All Dressed loaded with mushrooms, green peppers, pepperoni, and a thick bronzed blanket of Saputo cheese. Beyond pizza, order the Spano Special Submarine—a hot Montreal-style sub packed with tender steak, mushrooms, melted cheese, and signature house dressing—or the Mello-sourced Montreal smoked meat sandwich piled on rye. The chicken souvlaki platter served with lemon-herb rice and scratch-made tzatziki anchors the Greek side of the kitchen, while vegan-friendly pizza alternatives cater to plant-based eaters.

Know Before You Go Seating is primarily walk-in friendly with brisk turnover, though table reservations are recommended over the phone for larger parties.
