Rooster’s Broadview shop is the Riverdale patio room overlooking the park: official site lists 479 Broadview Avenue, Monday to Sunday 7 a.m.–8 p.m., hello@roostercoffeehouse.com, (647) 530-4779. Sister shops are 343 King Street East (Monday–Friday 7 a.m.–7 p.m., Saturday–Sunday 8 a.m.–7 p.m.) and 568 Jarvis Street (daily 7 a.m.–7 p.m.). The homepage pitch is a seat inside or out at King and Jarvis, or the Broadview patio over the park, plus pastry from a list of city bakers. First-timers: Broadview, not Jarvis, if you want the room. A latte or drip and a pastry; the patio is the reason in warm weather. Official close is 8 p.m. — later than almost every specialty bar on this list. No reservations. This is an east-end stay-awhile cafe, not a 4 p.m. espresso close.
