Queen Books is the Leslieville general indie at 914 Queen Street East — two bookselling veterans, vintage wallpaper, Persian-style rugs, and a neighbourhood calendar of launches. This is the east-end staff-picks shop: new fiction, kids, CanLit, and the kind of table display that exists because someone in the room read the book. First-timers: it is small, so you will see the whole floor in twenty minutes if you rush, or an hour if you talk to the desk. Pair it with a Queen East walk; this is not a destination you combine with Type on the other side of town unless you have a streetcar afternoon. Daily 10–6 is the safe clock.
