What is Patria? Set back from King Street West down an alleyway past wrought-iron gates at 478 King St W, Patria (reimagined with INK Entertainment as Beso by Patria) remains a pillar of Spanish dining in Wellington Place. The dramatic two-storey room features high ceilings, moody lighting, textured murals, and a sweeping mezzanine overlooking a bustling central island bar. Seating covers everything from intimate banquettes and main dining room tables to high-energy bar counters and a seasonal courtyard patio.
Patria Menu & What to Order The kitchen delivers sharp Iberian tapas, charcuterie, and socarrat-crusted paellas designed for sharing across the table. Start with the iconic dátiles—sweet dates wrapped in bacon and Manchego finished with a sherry reduction—alongside freshly rubbed pan con tomate and garlic-sizzled gambas al ajillo. The seafood paella loaded with shrimp, calamari, and mussels is a must, nicely paired with Spanish vermut cocktails or imported cava. Finish with the torched Basque cheesecake or warm cinnamon churros drizzled in dulce de leche.
Know Before You Go Reservations through the restaurant portal are strongly recommended for peak evening seatings, though early walk-ins can often snag bar seating right when doors open. Street parking on King West is virtually impossible, so hop on the 504 King streetcar to Portland or Brant Street, or use nearby commercial underground parking garages. Dinner is served seven nights a week from 5:00 p.m., with an early-evening Tapas Social happy hour running before 7:00 p.m.
