Located in a commercial plaza at 2691 Markham Road (Unit 11) near Nashdene Systems in Morningside Heights, Naraine's Bakery is an authentic, 100% vegetarian bakery specializing in traditional Guyanese and Indo-Caribbean baked goods. For decades, this family-run institution has served as a cultural gathering point for Ontario's Guyanese community, turning out scratch-made breads, savory pastries, and holiday snacks according to time-tested ancestral recipes.

Naraine's Bakery Menu & What to Order The glass cases are filled with golden Guyanese specialties baked fresh daily. The top order is their flaky Cheese Rolls, filled with sharp cheddar seasoned with Caribbean spices. Equally famous are the Pineapple Tarts with lattice tops, and vibrant Salara (the iconic sweet bread roll spiraled with spiced red coconut filling). On Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, do not miss the Fresh Dhal Puri Roti, rolled thin and packed with seasoned yellow split peas, as well as piping-hot crispy Pholourie served with spicy mango dip.

Know Before You Go Naraine's is open Monday through Saturday, opening earliest at 9:30 a.m. on Saturdays, and is closed on Sundays. Weekend mornings often see bustling lines as families stock up on dozens of tennis rolls and plait bread loaves for weekend gatherings. Generous free parking is provided in the plaza lot off Markham Road.
