N.L Ginzburg

N.L. Ginzburg is a College Street trattoria founded by the culinary duo Carmelina Imola and Zachary Kolomeir, the team behind Dreyfus and Taverne Bernhardt's. Named in honour of Italian anti-fascist intellectuals Natalia and Leone Ginzburg, the restaurant explores the intersection of Italian folk traditions and Jewish diaspora cuisine. The space features a dark, moody interior accented by warm millwork, terrazzo floors, vintage banquettes, and 1980s Simonetti chairs, creating a nostalgic atmosphere that feels both intimate and intentional.
The menu focuses on honest, seasonal cooking, with pastas rolled out daily and proteins prepared over a charcoal grill. Diners can expect dishes like tagliatelle with ragù bianco, tortellini in brodo, and a substantial bistecca alla Fiorentina. The wine list highlights independent producers, while the cocktail program incorporates local ingredients into Italian-style aperitivos. The exterior is marked by a distinctive red façade with no prominent signage, so look for the pebbled glass door. Reservations are recommended, though the restaurant welcomes walk-ins when space allows.
