Anchored at 225 King Street West across from the TIFF Lightbox, Minami is the design-forward King West sibling to waterfront staple Miku, operated by Seigo Nakamura’s Aburi Restaurants. The award-winning room by DesignAgency features dramatic curved cobalt booths, globe pendant lighting, and a sweeping red-and-orange ceiling fabric installation alongside a hand-painted mural by Japanese artist Hideki Kimura. Seating options range from an energetic cocktail lounge and bar counter to plush banquettes and a seasonal sidewalk patio.

Minami Menu & What to Order The kitchen centers around the signature Aburi Oshi sushi—pressed, flame-seared rice blocks topped with signature sauces, box-pressed salmon, prawn, or yellowtail. Beyond sushi, the contemporary tapas menu highlights premium proteins like roasted A5 Miyazaki Wagyu striploin, Saikyo miso-baked sablefish, and pristine Gozen bento sets during weekday lunch. Pair your plates with bespoke craft cocktails like the sake-infused Shinjuku or a curated sake flight, while plant-based diners will appreciate dedicated vegan rolls and vegetable tapas.
