What is Kingyo? Kingyo, known formally as Kingyo Fisherman's Market, is a multi-concept Japanese establishment located at 51B Winchester St in Toronto's Cabbagetown. Originally opening as Kingyo Izakaya in the historic Winchester Hotel building, it operates as both a market and a restaurant. The intimate dining space, overseen by Chef Koji Zenimaru, features thoughtful Japanese design elements including goldfish motifs and subtle anime projections.

Kingyo Menu & What to Order The menu at Kingyo focuses on authentic Japanese izakaya small plates, alongside pristine sushi and sashimi. Patrons consistently praise the Kingyo Marinated Kaisen Don, a vibrant rice bowl loaded with various seafood, and the rich Sizzling Unagi Hitsumabushi. Other standout orders include the Spicy Negitoro Pressed Sushi, the famously crispy Jumbo Ebi Mayo, and the expansive Kingyo Makunouchi Platter, which offers a curated selection of tastes. Be aware that the establishment does not accept cash payments. It operates Monday through Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and on Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
