Cocktail Bar & Lounge
What is Jean Darlene? Tucked down a rear laneway behind the Dundas West KFC at 1203 Dundas Street West, Jean Darlene is an intimate live-karaoke piano room founded by hospitality veterans Joseph Eastwood, Fadi Hakim, and Platinum Blonde frontman Mark Holmes. Designed by Bruno Billio, the space channels a 1970s Hollywood lounge with moody lighting, disco ball reflections, and a restored gold 1920s Heintzman & Co. piano anchoring the room. Seating centers around velvet banquettes, low cocktail tables, and a buzzing bar where guests gather to sing alongside live accompanists.
Jean Darlene Menu & What to Order While the live accompaniment is the main attraction, the bar program turns out well-crafted drinks like The George, a refreshing mix of Jameson Irish whiskey, Amaro Montenegro, fresh lime, and ginger beer. Beyond classic martinis, spritzes, and cold pints, guests can graze on savory bar snacks sourced directly from sister spot The Haifa Room. Order a platter of fresh dips with warm pita or a charcuterie board to sustain your vocal cords through the evening.
Know Before You Go Doors open Thursday through Saturday from 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., with a door cover ($10 to $15 including coat check) in effect. Walk-ins are the norm, but table bookings for larger parties can be arranged in advance; arrive before 10:00 p.m. to skip the laneway lineup off Grove Avenue. Take the 505 Dundas streetcar directly to the corner of Dundas and Ossington or Dovercourt, as neighborhood street parking fills fast.
