Green Cafe

What is Green Cafe? Located at 414 College Street where the Annex meets Little Italy, Green Cafe carries on the storied, unpretentious legacy of Toronto's iconic student dive across two dimly lit, thrift-furnished floors. The lived-in interior opens to a secluded back garden patio that feels completely removed from the rush of the College streetcar strip. It serves as a casual gathering ground for University of Toronto students, neighborhood regulars, and nocturnal creatives who value character and cheap pints over polish.

Green Cafe Menu & What to Order Expect a wallet-friendly hybrid menu that jumps easily between pub staples, hot sandwiches, and wok-fired noodles. The fragrant Thai Basil Noodles pack authentic chilli heat alongside chicken and eggs, while the homemade Green Room Burger and crispy shrimp spring rolls make for dependable late-night companion dishes. Plant-based and vegetarian diners are well covered with Beyond Meat patties, rich avocado-and-brie melts, and vegetable udon stir-fries. Pair your meal with an affordable draft beer or a simple iced tea for a no-nonsense dining session.

Know Before You Go Tables are strictly first-come, first-served; grab an early spot if you want to secure seating on the back garden patio during peak summer hours. The 506 Carlton streetcar drops riders steps from the front entrance at Bathurst and College. The kitchen and bar operate daily from late afternoon through 2:00 a.m., making it a go-to anchor for budget-conscious midnight dining.
