El Almacen Yerba Mate Cafe

What is El Almacen Yerba Mate Cafe? Located at 1917 Weston Road in Weston Village, El Almacen Yerba Mate Cafe is a South American coffee and mate house run by founders Silvio and Estela Rodriguez following their relocation from Queen West. The interior pairs warm brick and wood accents with a striking display of vintage 1950s CCM bicycles honouring the neighbourhood's manufacturing past. Seating includes cozy cafe tables and sunlit window perches built for long conversations and unhurried mornings.

El Almacen Yerba Mate Cafe Menu & What to Order The undisputed star is the authentic yerba mate service, brewed properly in a cured gourd and sipped through a metal bombilla with a thermos of hot water for continuous refills. On the food side, order the handmade Argentine empanadas—specifically the savoury beef with green olives and the vegetarian-friendly spinach and cheese, both encased in golden, flaky pastry. Finish with a house-baked alfajor thick with dulce de leche and rolled in shredded coconut, or pair an iced yerba mate latte with the Huevos Electra breakfast sandwich.

Know Before You Go El Almacen operates exclusively as a counter-service walk-in cafe, so reservations are neither offered nor needed. The shop is busiest during weekend late mornings when locals gather after walks along the nearby Humber River Trail. If you are taking transit, the cafe is an easy three-minute walk from the Weston UP Express and GO station, with street parking available along Weston Road.
