Duke of York Restaurant

What is Duke of York Restaurant? Tucked along tree-lined Prince Arthur Avenue just north of Bloor, Duke of York has anchored The Annex tavern scene for more than four decades. Run by Toronto's long-standing Duke Pubs group, the rambling multi-level brick space features dark wood finishes, multiple distinct bars, and a pair of leafy garden patios. It functions as a welcoming neighbourhood hub where University of Toronto faculty, students, and longtime locals gather over fresh draught pours.

Duke of York Restaurant Menu & What to Order The kitchen specializes in straightforward British alehouse classics and satisfying pub comfort fare. The Traditional London Fish and Chips is a benchmark order, fried to a crisp golden crunch and paired with house tartar sauce and thick-cut chips. Tables routinely split the loaded pub nachos or crispy chicken wings before moving to bangers and mash or classic turkey clubs, ideally paired with a pint of Fuller's London Pride or Duke's Draught.

Know Before You Go Table reservations can be booked directly online for larger groups, but the multi-floor floor plan makes walk-in seating relatively smooth on most weeknights. The secluded back patio fills up rapidly during sunny summer afternoons and weekend sports matches, so plan an early arrival on game days. Transit access is painless via St. George subway station just steps away, whereas street parking along Prince Arthur is tightly contested.
