Daigyo Cafe

What is Daigyo Cafe? Tucked inside a bustling commercial plaza at Midland and Finch in Scarborough, Daigyo Cafe trades dessert parlour chaos for the serene calm of a modern Japanese tea house. The minimalist interior pairs warm natural oak wood with smooth polished concrete finishes, providing compact table seating that welcomes both focused laptop sessions and casual afternoon tea. Culinary roots trace directly to Shizuoka, Japan, anchoring the entire concept around ceremonial-grade organic matcha.

Daigyo Cafe Menu & What to Order Matcha is treated with deep reverence here, evident from the clean, grassy depth of the classic Daigyo Matcha Latte to the intensely creamy Matcha Soft Serve. Pastry cases show off balanced sweets like the Matcha Double Fromage Cheesecake and choux-crafted Matcha Paris Brest, while the Matcha Waffle with Mini Mochi offers textbook chew. For something special, arrive after 6 p.m. for late-night compositions like the Hatsuki Neko, which layers rich matcha ice cream over black sugar crystal jelly, dried peach flakes, and playful cat paw-shaped rice cakes.

Know Before You Go Service is walk-ins only, and given the compact seating, expect evening waits on weekends when post-dinner dessert runs hit their stride. The surrounding plaza offers plenty of surface parking, though spaces fill quickly during peak dining hours. Doors open daily at noon, winding down at 9:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and extending to 9:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
