Brasserie Côte is a French-inspired restaurant in the Annex, established by restaurateurs Teo Paul and Eamon O'Dea. As a sister location to the renowned Côte de Bœuf on Ossington, this venue occupies the historic corner formerly home to By the Way Café. The interior design evokes 1920s Paris, featuring a custom-made zinc bar, vintage chandeliers, arched mirrors, and burgundy banquettes. The restaurant aims to provide a lively, unpretentious atmosphere that serves as a neighbourhood gathering spot, complemented by a spacious outdoor terrace that brings a distinct patio culture to the intersection of Bloor and Brunswick.
For a first visit, expect a menu that balances classic French brasserie fare—such as steak frites, escargots à l'ail gratinés, and tartare de bœuf—with a broader selection of dishes suitable for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The kitchen, led by chef Damien Cochez, emphasizes local ingredients, sourcing meat from Ontario farms and butchering it in-house. The restaurant operates on a walk-in-only basis, so plan accordingly as reservations are not accepted. The wine and cocktail program is curated to pair with the menu, making it an appropriate choice for both a casual mid-day espresso or a more lingering evening meal.
