Anjappar Chettinad

What is Anjappar Chettinad? Located along Eglinton Avenue East in Scarborough, this stalwart outpost brings the unapologetic, spice-forward traditions of Tamil Nadu's Chettinad region to an unpretentious suburban dining room. The interior leans casual and utilitarian, set up with wide tables built to seat multi-generational families and lively groups. There is zero fuss here, just an energetic dining hall that fills rapidly with the aroma of toasted curry leaves and roasted coriander.

Anjappar Chettinad Menu & What to Order Chettinad cooking is defined by freshly roasted, stone-ground spices, which punch through clearly in the bone-in Chettinad Chicken Masala and the intensely peppery, deeply browned Mutton Chukka Masala. Tear into them with layered, flaky Kerala Parotta, or order a crisp Ghee Masala Dosa laced with comforting potato masala for a vegetarian anchor. The deep-fried Chicken 65 delivers immediate heat on the starter side, while a steel tumbler of traditional South Indian Filter Coffee provides a restorative, chicory-tinged finish.

Know Before You Go The restaurant operates on a walk-in basis, and peak weekend lunch and dinner services regularly draw queues that spill near the entrance. Ample surface parking is available in the strip plaza off Eglinton, and the 86 and 116 TTC bus lines stop nearby. Service runs late seven days a week, opening at 11:30 a.m. on weekdays and 10:00 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
