Charles Khabouth and Danny Soberano of INK Entertainment (Ultra, Kost, Daphne) opened Animl in the former Hyde Lounge space on Wellington Street West in November 2024, partnering with Sacha Elwakeel and Maher Murshed. Executive Chef Marc Cheng (George, Patria, Clio) and Chef de Cuisine Michael Degrazia (Alobar) run a kitchen built around premium dry-aged steaks seared at 130,000 BTU and basted with beef tallow for a dark, caramelized crust.
The menu is unapologetically steakhouse — dry-aged prime cuts from to , alongside signatures like the house Pastrami (), raclette Mac and Cheese (), and a Caesar Salad (). The cocktail program is strong, and the late-night bar stays open until 2 AM on weekends.
The room, designed by award-winning Toronto studio NIVEK REMAS, draws from Art Deco elegance and 1970s Studio 54 glamour: leopard print banquettes, geometric inlaid flooring, wood-panelled walls, and mirrored ceilings. Dress code is enforced — elegant attire required, no athletic wear or casual pieces. Dinner service Monday through Sunday starting at 5 PM.
