What is Aka-Oni Japanese Cuisine? Located along a bustling commercial strip on Silver Star Boulevard in Scarborough, Aka-Oni is an upscale izakaya and noodle destination channeling the moody, lantern-lit taverns of Tokyo. The interior trades in authentic timber finishes and cozy dining booths fitted with privacy curtains, creating a secluded yet energetic atmosphere alongside a seasonal converted patio.
Aka-Oni Japanese Cuisine Menu & What to Order The kitchen demonstrates broad culinary range, moving effortlessly between pristine raw bar selections and rich, comforting comfort food. Don't skip the crispy, savory Barbecued Eel Thin Crust Pancake or the lavish Hokkaido King Crab Milk Ramen, which layers sweet crab meat into a velvety broth. Balance the decadence of the Lobster Devil Yaki and Wagyu Uni Roll with bright sips from the Shiso Mojito or the Momotaro Warrior cocktail.
Know Before You Go Tables fill up rapidly on weekends and prime evening hours, so calling ahead to secure a booth reservation is strongly advised. Ample surface parking is available in the plaza lot, and night owls can take advantage of a specialized late-night snack menu starting at 8:30 p.m.
