VT Insider Tip

The costume craftsmanship is genuinely impressive — some families spend months preparing. It's a great introduction to Carnival culture for families with young kids.

About

Junior Carnival is the family-focused companion to the Toronto Caribbean Carnival. Kids and teens in elaborate mas band costumes parade through a downtown route in a joyful celebration of Caribbean culture. It's smaller and more intimate than the Grand Parade, and incredibly charming.

What to Expect

Saturday afternoon parade with youth mas bands. Shorter and more family-friendly than the Grand Parade. Music, costumes, and community spirit.

Pro Tips

Arrive 30 minutes early and stake out a spot near the start of the route for the best views. Bring snacks and water for the kids. The parade moves at a kid-friendly pace.

Getting There

Route varies by year — check the Toronto Caribbean Carnival website. Generally downtown, TTC-accessible.
