VT Insider Tip

Buy your garlic braids and specialty varieties from the Ontario farmers early — the best varieties (like Music and Russian Red) sell out by noon. The garlic ice cream is a must-try at least once in your life.

About

The Toronto Garlic Festival is a delightfully niche annual celebration of the stinking rose. Held at Evergreen Brick Works, it brings together garlic growers, artisan food producers, and thousands of garlic lovers for a day of tasting, cooking demos, live music, and more garlic than you can imagine. It's weird, it's wonderful, and it's very Toronto.

What to Expect

One-day festival with garlic vendors, artisan food producers, cooking demonstrations, live music, and kids' activities. Expect 30+ garlic farmers selling dozens of varieties. The smell is... intense.

Pro Tips

Bring a cooler and bags for purchases — you'll buy more garlic than you planned. Try the black garlic from multiple vendors to compare. Cash speeds up purchases at farmer stalls. The cooking demos have free samples.

Getting There

Evergreen Brick Works at 550 Bayview Ave. Free shuttle from Broadview station runs all day. Cycling via the Don Valley trails is the scenic option. Limited parking — shuttle or bike strongly recommended.
