VT Insider Tip

Check the Fringe app reviews as the festival progresses — word-of-mouth hits circulate fast. The shows that get extended runs are usually the ones worth catching.

About

The Fringe is where Toronto's theatre scene gets weird, wonderful, and wildly unpredictable. Over 150 shows in 30+ venues, all unjuried — meaning literally anyone can put on a show. You'll see brilliant one-person shows, experimental dance, terrible improv, and everything in between. That's the point.

What to Expect

150+ shows across two weeks. Most shows are 60 minutes or less. Tickets are cheap ($10-15). Venues cluster around the Annex, Harbord Village, and Kensington.

Pro Tips

See 3-4 shows per day for the full Fringe experience. Buy a Fringe button ($5) to get priority at popular shows. Leave time between shows for the social scene at the Fringe patio.

Getting There

Main Fringe cluster is around Bathurst/Bloor (Bathurst subway) and Harbord. Walk between venues. The Fringe patio at Honest Ed's park is the social hub.
