About

What many Torontonians still call Caribana is officially the Toronto Caribbean Carnival, and it's one of the city's most spectacular annual events. The Grand Parade on the first Saturday of August (with programming throughout July) is a massive procession of mas bands in elaborate costumes, steel pan orchestras, and soca music floats along Lakeshore Boulevard. The energy is absolutely unmatched.

What to Expect

The Grand Parade route along Lakeshore is 3.5km of continuous music, dancing, and spectacle. Expect extremely large crowds, hot weather, and an all-day outdoor experience.

Pro Tips

Wear comfortable shoes and bring water — you'll be on your feet for hours. Sunscreen is essential. The best viewing is along Lakeshore near Exhibition Place. Arrive before 10am for the parade start.

Getting There

TTC to Exhibition or Bathurst, then walk to Lakeshore. Do NOT drive — road closures are extensive. Go/UP Express to Exhibition is an option. Expect packed transit on the return trip.
