VT Insider Tip

If it returns, go Friday evening or Saturday before noon for the best food experience. Sunday afternoon is when the crowds peak and lines are longest. The restaurants with outdoor grills have the most authentic Danforth experience.

About

For over 25 years, Taste of the Danforth was one of Toronto's most-attended street festivals, drawing over a million visitors to Greektown for a weekend of souvlaki, live music, and community celebration. The festival has faced cancellations in recent years, and its future is uncertain. When it runs, it's one of Toronto's best street food experiences.

What to Expect

Street closures along Danforth from Broadview to Jones. Food vendors, restaurant patios, live music stages, and cultural performances. Extremely crowded on Saturday evening.

Pro Tips

Eat your way systematically east from Broadview. Share plates to try more vendors. The restaurants (not just street vendors) often run festival specials that are better value.

Getting There

Line 2 subway to Broadview, Chester, Pape, or Donlands — all drop you right on the Danforth. Walk the festival route. Do not drive anywhere near the Danforth during the festival.
