Looking to sharpen your lyrical skills? Head over to the Thorncliffe Public Library for an engaging afternoon exploring the intersections of poetry and hip-hop. Led by Coach Desiree McKenzie, the "Bars & Beats" workshop dives into the global and local roots of spoken word, examining how rap music utilizes rhythm, metaphor, and storytelling.
Participants will learn to analyze rap lyrics analytically and create their own original spoken word pieces inspired by musical flow and technique. No registration is required for this drop-in session, and free, nutritious snacks will be provided.
