Step back in time and learn traditional heritage crafts at The Village at Black Creek with this hands-on workshop focused on autumnal baking and tinsmithing. Perfect for history buffs and baking enthusiasts alike, this unique session teaches participants how to craft their own durable baking tools using authentic 19th-century techniques.

Led by experienced historical interpreters in the scenic setting of North York's living history museum, the morning begins with a tinsmithing workshop where you will use templates and hand tools to shape tin plates into custom, safe-edged cookie cutters—opting for simple seasonal silhouettes like stars, leaves, or hearts. Afterwards, you'll head into the historic kitchen to mix, measure, and prepare dough using an authentic 19th-century recipe before stamping out your freshly minted cutters.

Registration is $60 plus HST per person, and every participant leaves with their own handmade metal cookie cutter and a dozen freshly baked cookies to take home. The workshop is designed for adults and children aged 8 and up (accompanied by an adult with a 2-to-1 child-to-adult ratio). Closed-toe shoes are required, and long hair must be tied back for kitchen safety. Plan your trip up to the Black Creek Pioneer Village grounds on Murray Ross Parkway for a delightful autumn morning steeped in local heritage.
