Cedar Ridge Creative Centre in Scarborough hosts 'Women and Flowers: Transplanted,' a poignant group exhibition that brings together the work of five immigrant women artists: Arshin Agashteh, Maryam (Sora) Kheiry, Ebru Winegrad, Golbahar Hassanabadi, and Gizem Candan.
The Concept
This exhibition serves as a meditation on the immigrant experience, using the life cycle of flowers as a lens to view the human journey. Just as a plant must adapt to new soil, these artists reflect on how memories, cultural lineages, and identities take root when transplanted into a new geography. The work bridges the gap between the fragility of displacement and the strength required to bloom in a new environment.
Visiting Cedar Ridge
Located at 225 Confederation Dr., Cedar Ridge is a historic site that offers a beautiful, serene setting for this thoughtful collection. The exhibition runs from May 30 through June 18, 2026, and admission is free. It’s a perfect excuse to head out to Scarborough and explore the grounds of this creative hub. Whether you are a fan of contemporary art or simply looking for a quiet, reflective afternoon, this show offers a powerful look at the 'World in a City' that defines Toronto.
