What I Wish You Knew: FREE Origami Workshop

Friday, August 14, 2026
4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
Toronto Public Library - North York Central Library
What I Wish You Knew is an ongoing, deeply moving public art project dedicated to the things we leave unsaid. Hosted in Meeting Room 101 at the North York Central Library, this free afternoon workshop invites community members to pause, reflect, and participate in a unique collective creation.
Participants will write out anonymous messages they wish they could share with someone in their life. These notes are then folded into individual petals that form stunning kusudama (origami flower balls). No prior origami experience is necessary—friendly instructors will guide you through the folding process step-by-step so you can make a kusudama to take home while contributing a piece to the broader installation.
Community Impact
Beyond learning a traditional paper-folding craft, attendees can take part in a secret notebook swap and connect with others in a quiet, welcoming environment. Finished community art pieces are ultimately donated to local mental health spaces, providing comfort and connection through shared vulnerability. All materials and snacks are generously provided free of charge.
