Discover the hidden layers of Old Town Toronto with a guided walking tour led by the museum coordinator. Tracing the footsteps of the original ten blocks of the early colonial city, this tour uncovers the pivotal events leading up to the War of 1812, the dramatic Battle of York, and the everyday realities of early 19th-century residents.

The Route The tour kicks off on the historic steps of the Cathedral Church of St. James facing King Street East, weaving through the historic downtown fabric before wrapping up at Toronto's First Post Office Museum on Adelaide Street East. It’s a fantastic way to understand how early settlement shaped modern downtown Toronto.

Tips for Participants Tours run rain or shine. Because you'll be covering ground on foot through historic downtown blocks, comfortable walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing are essential. Come prepared to see familiar downtown corners through a completely historical lens.
