Whether you have a sprawling backyard in East York or just a sunny corner on your balcony, growing your own food is one of the most rewarding hobbies you can pick up in the city. On May 13, 2026, a Toronto Master Gardener is hosting a hands-on demonstration at the S. Walter Stewart Branch of the Toronto Public Library to help you get started.
What to Expect
This workshop is designed to take the guesswork out of urban gardening. You'll learn essential tips and techniques for successful growing, tailored to the unique challenges of Toronto's climate and urban spaces. It’s a great opportunity to ask questions and get advice from an expert. Plus, attendees will have the chance to win vegetable seeds and seedlings in a raffle at the end of the session.
How to Attend
Space is limited for this in-person program, so registration is required. You can sign up online or by calling 416-396-3975. The library is located at 170 Memorial Park Ave in East York. If you need accessibility accommodations, be sure to reach out to the library at least two weeks in advance. It’s a perfect way to spend an afternoon if you're looking to green up your living space this spring.
