TOTO + Christopher Cross + The Romantics

Sunday, August 30, 2026
6:45 p.m. – 6:45 p.m.
RBC Amphitheatre
If you’ve ever found yourself singing along to the soaring chorus of 'Africa' or cranking the volume when 'What I Like About You' hits the airwaves, mark your calendar for August 30th. The RBC Amphitheatre at Ontario Place is set to host a triple-bill that reads like the ultimate mixtape of the late 70s and 80s. With Toto headlining, supported by the smooth stylings of Christopher Cross and the power-pop punch of The Romantics, this is one of those rare lineups where you genuinely won't want to step away for a drink during any of the sets.
The Masters of the Stage
Headlining the night, Toto remains a fascinating anomaly in rock history. Often unfairly pigeonholed by their massive radio hits, the band is actually comprised of some of the most prolific session musicians to ever grace a recording studio. When you see them live, you aren't just getting a nostalgia act; you’re witnessing technical precision. Whether they are diving into the complex jazz-fusion-inflected grooves of 'Rosanna' or delivering the stadium-filling anthem 'Africa,' the band’s ability to recreate their polished studio sound in a live setting is legendary.
Before the headliners take the stage, Christopher Cross will bring his signature breezy, yacht-rock aesthetic to the waterfront. A man who famously swept the 'Big Four' Grammy Awards in 1981, Cross is the architect of the ultimate summer soundtrack. Expect 'Sailing' and 'Ride Like the Wind' to sound particularly poignant as the sun sets over Lake Ontario. Opening the night, The Romantics will inject a necessary dose of grit. While the other acts lean into smooth production, this Detroit-born outfit brings the raw, power-pop energy that made 'What I Like About You' and 'Talking in Your Sleep' staples of every rock bar in North America. They are the perfect spark to ignite the crowd early in the evening.
The Venue Experience
There is something uniquely 'Toronto' about seeing a show at the RBC Amphitheatre. Nestled on the edge of the city, the venue offers that rare combination of big-city energy and lakeside serenity. The breeze coming off Lake Ontario provides a welcome reprieve during the humid August heat, and the sight of the city skyline twinkling in the distance as the music swells is hard to beat.
Since this is a rain-or-shine event, the venue’s mix of covered seating and open lawn space is a major factor. If you’re on the lawn, bring a light poncho just in case, but don't let a little summer drizzle dampen the mood—some of the best concert memories in this city happen when the rain starts to fall and the band just keeps playing.
Getting There & Making a Night of It
Located at 909 Lakeshore Blvd. W., the venue is technically part of the Ontario Place grounds, which puts you in a prime position to explore before the music starts. If you’re looking for a pre-show bite, head north into Liberty Village or West Queen West. Both neighbourhoods are a short transit ride or a brisk walk away and are packed with excellent patio options.
For transportation, skip the headache of Ontario Place parking if you can. The TTC’s 509 Harbourfront and 511 Bathurst streetcars are your best friends here, dropping you off right at the gates. If you do drive, arrive early—the lots fill up quickly, and you don't want to be stuck in traffic on the Gardiner when the first chords are struck. Pro tip: once the show ends, the walk back toward the streetcar stops can get crowded, so take your time, enjoy the lake air, and let the post-concert rush subside before heading home.
