Taste of the Danforth

Friday, August 7, 2026 – Sunday, August 9, 2026
11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
The Danforth, Greektown
It's back. After going dark in 2024 and 2025 amid funding troubles, Taste of the Danforth returns August 7 through 9, 2026, with fresh government and BIA backing behind it. For the millions who grew up on this festival, its return is genuinely a big deal — one of Canada's largest street festivals, reborn.
What to Expect
The Danforth shuts down to traffic from Broadview to Jones, and Greektown turns into an open-air feast. Souvlaki, grilled octopus, loukoumades dripping in honey, and saganaki flambéed tableside — the food is the whole point, and every restaurant along the strip spills out onto the sidewalk. Multiple stages host everything from traditional Greek music and folk dancers in costume to contemporary live bands.
The Crowds
Historically this festival draws upwards of 1.5 million people over the weekend, so brace for density. Go hungry, go early in the day if you want breathing room, and pace yourself — this is a grazing marathon, not a sprint.
Getting There
Chester, Pape, or Broadview stations on Line 2 put you right in the thick of it. Do not attempt to drive or park anywhere near the Danforth.
