Join Rahaf Alakbani, a talented cook and co-founder of the renowned Newcomer Kitchen, for an immersive, hands-on workshop dedicated to the art of Syrian brunch. This class is a wonderful opportunity to learn traditional recipes, hear stories, and share a meal in a welcoming, community-focused environment.

A Taste of Tradition

Rahaf will guide you through the preparation of classic dishes, including *Jazmaz* (a Syrian version of shakshuka), *Ful* (stewed fava beans), and *Qatayef* (delicate pancakes with a ricotta filling). You’ll also get a demonstration on making *labneh* and stuffed dates. The workshop concludes with a communal meal, allowing you to enjoy the fruits of your labour alongside fellow participants.

Why It’s Worth Going

Rahaf’s work with Newcomer Kitchen and various choirs across the GTA has made her a beloved figure in Toronto’s culinary and cultural scene. This workshop is more than just a cooking class; it’s a chance to connect with Syrian culture through food, music, and storytelling. Held at the Centre for Social Innovation on Spadina, it’s a great way to support a community-focused space while picking up new skills in the kitchen.
