Summer Maker Days: Impressionist Still Lifes

Wednesday, August 19, 2026
1:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Art Gallery of Ontario
Step into Walker Court at the Art Gallery of Ontario and try your hand at painting during Summer Maker Days: Impressionist Still Lifes. Inspired by the blockbuster exhibition *The Impressionist Revolution: Monet to Matisse* on loan from the Dallas Museum of Art, this open studio invites visitors of all skill levels to sit down, pick up a brush, and capture a classic still life arrangement.
Whether you're an experienced painter or haven't touched a palette since elementary school, all materials are provided free with general museum admission. Drop in anytime between 1 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. to sketch and paint at your own pace surrounded by the historic architecture of Frank Gehry's redesigned gallery core.
Before or after your creative session, make an afternoon of it in Grange Park right outside, or grab a coffee at one of the many great independent cafes along nearby Queen Street West. It is a relaxing, tactile way to engage with the gallery's seasonal programming without the pressure of a formal class.
