Spotlight at The Second City is the monthly sketch showcase that usually runs two acts across two nights. October flips the format: four solo sketch comedians, each with a 15-minute set, at Theatre ’73 downtown.
Hosts Taylor Hreljac and Gabe Meacher bring in Ada Nicolle, Ryan Sheedy, Kara Austria, and Taelor Joseph — a concentrated hit of solo work rather than troupe pieces. Admission is free, which means the room fills with comics, classmates, and people who treat Second City like a gym.

October 2–3, 2026 at The Second City, 110 Harbour Street (Theatre ’73). Confirm showtimes on the Second City Toronto calendar before you go; free nights still have door rhythms.
Why it works
Solo sketch is a different animal from classic troupe scenes — tighter premises, faster pivots, more personality. If you’ve only seen the mainstage revue, this is the farm system in public.
Getting there
Union Station is the obvious move; Harbourfront streetcars and the PATH get you close. Arrive early if you want a seat that isn’t the back wall.
