Lassonde Art Trail
Slow down and look closely at your surroundings with the very first installment of the Lassonde Art Trail's 'Sketch & Walk' series. Led by designer, artist, and educator Julie Ourceau, this hybrid outdoor workshop invites participants of all skill levels to explore the fundamentals of plein air sketching while engaging with the public art installations and ecology of the trail.
Set against the backdrop of the industrial-chic Port Lands, the session teaches participants how to simplify complex landscapes into essential shapes, forms, and tonal values. Rather than focusing on a polished masterpiece, the workshop encourages observation, mindful framing, and a deeper connection between art and the urban landscape.
What to Expect
- Guided instruction on perspective, composition, and basic line work
- A scenic walking tour incorporating stops at key Lassonde Art Trail artworks
- A beginner-friendly, welcoming environment focused on process over perfection
- Participants should bring their own sketchbook and graphite pencils
Dress for the weather and prepare for a creative evening outdoors along the waterfront. This free workshop is a fantastic way to experience local public art through a fresh, creative lens.
