Classical music fans in the east end have plenty to celebrate as the Scarborough Philharmonic Orchestra (SPO) launches its brand new season with an electrifying program titled *Showpieces*.
An Evening of Orchestral Brilliance
Taking place at the Salvation Army Scarborough Citadel on Friday, October 2, 2026, the evening promises sweeping energy under the direction of SPO Artistic Director Ronald Royer. The undisputed centerpiece of the night is Antonín Dvořák’s beloved *Cello Concerto in B Minor*, performed by the celebrated and virtuosic Canadian cellist Cameron Crozman.
The program expands into high romantic drama with Franz Liszt’s thrilling *Les Préludes* and his dazzling *Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2*. Providing a brilliant contemporary Canadian counterpoint, the orchestra will also perform *White Pine* and *Poplar* from the suite *About the Trees* by Canadian composer Kye Marshall.
What to Expect
The Scarborough Philharmonic Citadel offers an intimate, accessible acoustic environment for orchestral performances right in the heart of Scarborough. It's an exceptional opportunity to experience world-class classical musicianship without trekking down to downtown concert halls.
