Shab-e She’r (Poetry Night) is back at the Tranzac Club in the Annex, continuing its tradition as one of Toronto’s most vital and inclusive literary gatherings. Hosted by the dynamic Bänoo Zan, this event is a cornerstone for the local spoken word community, offering a platform for poets of all backgrounds to share their work in any language.
What to Expect
This edition features readings from two acclaimed poets: Kerri Huffman, author of 'Juniper', and Linzey Corridon, whose debut collection 'West of West Indian' has garnered significant critical acclaim, including a Hamilton Literary Award. Following the featured sets, the floor opens up for a community open mic. If you’re looking to share your own work, sign-up begins at 6:30 PM sharp at the venue.
Practical Details
The event takes place in the Living Room at the Tranzac Club on Brunswick Avenue. Admission is on a sliding scale of $10–$20, payable by cash at the door (there is an ATM on-site).
