The Depanneur welcomes back Chef Fayad Martin of Havana Chef Table for an immersive culinary evening that spans the vibrant coastal traditions of the Caribbean and Latin America. Drawing on over two decades of culinary mastery in Havana and Toronto, Chef Martin pairs a lively multi-course seafood supper with the evocative sounds of live Cuban Son from local ensemble Papalote.
A Multi-Course Latin American Seafood Menu
The feast opens with a pescatarian Caribbean ceviche, highlighting lime-cured snapper and tender shrimp accented by yellow pepper, extra-virgin olive oil, and fresh cilantro over creamy sweet potato (camote). Golden, crispy yuca frita follows alongside haddock dorado accompanied by house-made parsley-lime aioli. The centrepiece of the table is an exuberant arroz marinero—a Caribbean-style seafood rice brimming with langostinos, shrimp, mussels, and scallops tossed with sweet carrots and tender green peas. Sweet caramelized fried plantains round out the savoury courses before concluding with a classic, velvety Cuban caramel flan.
Live Cuban Music & Intimate Dining
Elevating the dinner is musical accompaniment by Papalote, a Toronto group whose repertoire explores the rich poetic rhythms of Son Montuno. The Depanneur's supper club model seats guests around shared tables, creating a dinner-party atmosphere where conversation flows as easily as the music.
