Rostam Batmanglij—better known simply as Rostam—is one of the most influential architects of the modern indie sound. Having helped define the sonic landscape of the 2000s and 2010s as a founding member of Vampire Weekend, his solo work is a masterclass in production, blending baroque pop, electronic textures, and deeply personal songwriting.

What to Expect Expect a set that leans heavily into his solo discography, which often feels like a lush, meticulously crafted diary. Rostam is known for his ability to weave complex arrangements into accessible, catchy pop songs. Whether he’s pulling from his critically acclaimed albums *Half-Light* or *Changephobia*, his live performances are intimate yet expansive, showcasing his prowess as a multi-instrumentalist.

Venue & Neighbourhood The Opera House in Leslieville is the perfect setting for this show. Its historic charm and excellent acoustics provide a great backdrop for Rostam’s layered sound. Before the show, grab a bite at one of the many fantastic restaurants along Queen Street East, or enjoy a drink at a local pub in the heart of the neighbourhood. It’s a great spot to soak in the east-end vibe before heading into the venue for a night of top-tier indie music.
