Romeo and Juliet - The National Ballet of Canada

The National Ballet of Canada brings John Cranko's Romeo and Juliet back to the Four Seasons Centre from October 31 to November 8.

The production

Created for Stuttgart Ballet in 1962 and long a National Ballet cornerstone, Cranko's staging rides Sergei Prokofiev's score and asks the company for dramatic depth as much as classical polish. Running time is about 2 hours and 45 minutes with two intermissions.

Practical

Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, 145 Queen St W. Tickets through the National Ballet site. A clear fall date-night ballet if you want narrative dance rather than a contemporary double bill.
