May 5th marks Msko-mjigoodenh Giizhigad, or Red Dress Day. It is a day of remembrance, reflection, and collective action to honour Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S+).
The Commemoration
This event at Yonge-Dundas Square is a powerful way to stand in solidarity with Indigenous families, communities, and nations. The day will feature a Msko-mjigoodenh Zhinoomaagewin (Red Dress Exhibit), showcasing over 100 dresses, which will be on display throughout the day. Afternoon programming, including speakers and performances, will begin on the main stage at 1:30 PM.
