Poems of Consumption by H. Sinno

8:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Aga Khan Museum
H. Sinno brings Poems of Consumption to the Aga Khan Museum (77 Wynford Dr., North York) on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 8 p.m. Tickets are listed at $50.
It is part concert, part multimedia performance and part poetic meditation on consumer culture. The hook is genuinely unusual: the songs are built from Amazon customer reviews, reworked into poetry and set to music. Partly inspired by Mark Fisher's book Capitalist Realism, the cycle moves through ennui, surveillance capitalism, heartbreak, boycotts and orientalism, with compositions that set harsh electronica against the whimsy of a string quartet. Immersive visuals run alongside the live music.
That mix of the absurd and the serious is what makes the piece work. Reviews of a blender or a phone case are funny on their own, but stacked into verse they start to say something about loneliness and the way we talk about the things we buy. Expect a show that makes you laugh and then makes you think about your order history.
The Aga Khan Museum's auditorium is an intimate room with good sightlines and sound, and the museum itself is worth arriving early for if galleries are open before the show. It is a Thanksgiving long weekend Saturday, so this is a good pick if you are in town and want something other than a big dinner.
Getting there: the museum is near Don Mills and Eglinton. The Line 5 Eglinton Crosstown and several TTC buses serve the area, and there is on-site paid parking. Check the Aga Khan Museum's event page for running time, accessibility details and any member pricing before you book.
