For 40 years, the Penderecki String Quartet has been a cornerstone of the Canadian chamber music scene. Originally formed after winning the Penderecki Prize in Poland in 1986, the quartet has since become one of the most celebrated ensembles in the country. They are currently the Quartet-in-Residence at Wilfrid Laurier University, and they are bringing their anniversary celebration to the Jane Mallett Theatre on May 21st.
The Pre-Concert Performance
The evening begins early at 6:30 PM with a pre-concert performance by violinist Jacques Forestier and pianist Jeanie Chung. Forestier is a rising star in the classical world, having won the 2024 Joseph Joachim International Violin Competition at just 19 years old. It’s a rare opportunity to catch a performer who is already garnering significant international attention.
