If you are looking for a dinner that is as educational as it is delicious, look no further. On May 2, The Depanneur is hosting a traditional Parsi Jamvanu dinner with award-winning author and chef Niloufer Mavalvala.
The Cuisine
Parsi food is a unique regional cuisine that blends ancient Persian roots with Indian ingredients and techniques. The menu for the evening is spectacular: expect Parsi Eggs Florentine, a rich 'tale of one-hundred almonds' chicken curry, and Saas Khichri, a traditional prawn and rice dish. The meal concludes with Ravo, a semolina pudding that is a staple for special occasions in Parsi homes.
The Experience
'Jamvanu' refers to both the food and the act of coming together to share it. Niloufer Mavalvala will be your guide for the evening, sharing stories about Parsi culture, customs, and heritage. It is a rare opportunity to experience a cuisine that is not often found in Toronto restaurants.
Practical Info
The dinner takes place on May 2 from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM at The Depanneur (192 Spadina Ave).
