The Nutcracker - The National Ballet of Canada

Saturday, December 5, 2026 – Tuesday, December 29, 2026
4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts
Toronto's holiday calendar is not complete without The Nutcracker at the Four Seasons Centre. The National Ballet of Canada's James Kudelka production has been the city's December ritual since 1995, and the 2026 run stretches from December 5 through 31.
The story on stage
It opens at a Christmas Eve party in a 19th-century barn, then follows siblings Marie and Misha into a world of surprising animals, sumptuous treats, and the realm of the Sugar Plum Fairy. Tchaikovsky's score drives the night, with the company's magnificent sets and costumes doing the rest. Running time is about two hours with one intermission, which is friendly for families who want a real ballet night without a marathon.
Practical details
Shows are at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, 145 Queen Street West, right on the Osgoode and St. Andrew subway lines. Tickets sell through the National Ballet site and tend to move early for weekend matinees and Christmas week. If you are bringing kids, weekday evenings or early December dates are usually easier.
Why go
This is the big holiday ballet in Toronto, refreshed for 2026 with support from major underwriters. Whether it is a first Nutcracker or the twentieth, it is the clearest way to feel the season land downtown.
