NE-YO & AKON: Nights Like This Tour 2026

Saturday, August 1, 2026
8:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
RBC Amphitheatre
If you spent any part of the mid-2000s glued to MuchMusic or burning CDs for your car, the 'Nights Like This' tour is essentially your personal soundtrack come to life. Bringing together NE-YO and Akon—two titans who defined the golden era of R&B and dance-pop—at the RBC Amphitheatre is a stroke of genius. There is something uniquely Toronto about catching a show on the waterfront in August, and with these two headlining, the energy is guaranteed to be electric.
The Architects of the 2000s Sound
NE-YO remains one of the most sophisticated songwriters in the game. Beyond his own discography—which includes timeless staples like 'So Sick' and the undeniable groove of 'Closer'—his fingerprints are all over the decade’s biggest hits. Watching him live is a reminder of his showmanship; he brings a classic, almost Rat Pack-inspired elegance to the stage that balances perfectly with his high-octane choreography. He isn't just a singer; he’s a performer who understands how to command a crowd, whether he’s crooning a ballad or hitting a falsetto that takes you right back to 2006.
Then there is Akon, a man whose voice was arguably the most recognizable sound on the radio for a solid five-year stretch. From the gritty, infectious hooks of 'Locked Up' to the club-shaking energy of 'Smack That' and 'I Wanna Love You,' Akon’s ability to bridge the gap between R&B, hip-hop, and global pop is unmatched. His live shows are known for being interactive and high-energy, often turning the venue into one massive singalong. Seeing these two on the same bill is a rare treat, offering a dual-pronged attack of smooth vocal runs and absolute bangers.
The Venue: RBC Amphitheatre
Located at 909 Lakeshore Blvd. W., the RBC Amphitheatre is one of the city’s most underrated spots for a summer concert. Situated right on the edge of the lake, it offers that quintessential Toronto breeze that makes an outdoor show bearable even on the most humid August nights. The venue’s open-air design means you get the backdrop of the city skyline and the water, creating an atmosphere that feels much more intimate than the massive stadiums downtown. It’s the perfect setting for a show that feels like a massive, nostalgic block party.
Making a Night of It
The RBC Amphitheatre sits right on the edge of the Exhibition Place grounds, putting you in a prime spot for pre-show activities. If you want to avoid the immediate venue crush, head a little further east into Liberty Village. It’s a short walk or streetcar ride away and is packed with great spots for a pre-show drink or a bite. Grab a craft beer at Big Rock Brewery or some elevated pub fare at The Craft Brasserie before heading down to the waterfront. If you’re coming from the west, Parkdale offers a grittier, more eclectic vibe with some of the city's best hidden-gem restaurants along Queen Street West.
Good to Know
This is a rain-or-shine event, so keep a close eye on the forecast. While the RBC Amphitheatre has some coverage, it’s an outdoor venue, so dress for the weather—light layers are your best friend.
Getting there can be tricky as the Lakeshore corridor gets congested. Your best bet is to take the TTC; the 509 Harbourfront or 511 Bathurst streetcars will get you very close to the Exhibition grounds, saving you the headache of fighting for parking. Doors open at 7:00 PM, and with a show this high-profile, the lines will start forming early. Aim to arrive by 6:30 PM to grab a drink, settle into your spot, and soak in the sunset over the lake before the music starts.
